Clube de Golf Santo da Serra
With a natural setting that stretches from the green Madeiran mountains to the bay of Machico, the Clube de Golf Santo da Serra is a paradise golf lovers just can’t miss.
About 15 minutes from Madeira’s airport, this course, which opened in 1937 but was redesigned in 1991 by architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., has 27 holes, divided into three circuits: the ‘Serras Course’, where nature plays with you, the ‘Machico Course’, which overlooks the ‘cradle’ of the island, and the ‘Desertas Course’, where, in the distance, the Atlantic appears outlined by the three small islands to the south-east of Madeira.
All in all, Clube de Golf Santo da Serra totals 9003 metres, sometimes demarcated by deep, winding valleys that exhibit the most exciting topography of the archipelago, sometimes with lakes and bunkers that summon golfers to overcome themselves with each round, always against the backdrop of unparalleled landscapes.
It is therefore a course with excellent conditions, which invites you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and let yourself be carried away by the atmosphere of pure tranquillity, refinement and connection with nature.

Sustainability Project
Always committed to sustainability and environmental protection, in 2022 Clube de Golf Santo da Serra implemented an innovative and more efficient integrated irrigation system, which has significantly reduced water consumption. This hydraulic remote management device enables real-time monitoring of the system’s entire branch, speeding up the detection of possible leaks and their rapid resolution. In addition, this golf course uses the rainwater stored in lakes for irrigation, thus fulfilling the goal of supporting natural resources preservation.
