Porto Santo Golfe

Ready to welcome both professional and amateur golfers trying out their first swings, Porto Santo Golfe offers a memorable experience, from the first tee to the last swing.
Inaugurated in 2004, its layout was designed by famous Spanish golfer Severiano Ballesteros, and is divided into two main areas: the northern course, outlined by basalt cliffs and the arid natural beauty of this Atlantic paradise, and the southern course, where greens with panoramic views of the turquoise waters and the island’s magnificent sand dunes proliferate.
Indeed, the uniqueness of Porto Santo’s volcanic mountains and the view over the Atlantic Ocean, which embraces the island’s golden coast, make this golf course a true living canvas, with more than 6400 metres punctuated by 18 carefully designed, challenging holes.
Because at Porto Santo Golfe, golfers are invited to circumvent the most diverse natural obstacles, such as lakes, rock formations and bunkers, which make each game a both exciting and enchanting adventure.
This unique environment and its excellent conditions make this stunning course a world-class golf destination.

Sustainability Project

Porto Santo Golfe has endeavoured to be at the forefront of sustainability and nature preservation, following the highest environmental standards. Among the measures implemented, we highlight, namely, sustainable water management with the reuse of water produced by the waste water treatment plant to irrigate the lawns, the replacement of buggies with more environmentally friendly equipment, waste reduction by monitoring the resort’s rubbish and increasing recycling rates.
At this course you may also acquire bamboo and coffee tees, and environmental education sessions are organised when schools and social institutions visit the complex.
It should also be noted that Porto Santo Golfe, which is part of the island’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, has been awarded various environmental certifications, such as GEO Certified® and Bandeira da Ética (Ethics Flag).
